In 2010, U.S. Virgin Islands Governor, John deJohn Jr., set a goal for the island to achieve a 60% reduction in fossil fuel consumption by 2025. To help reach a major milestone in the mission, they partnered with Coastal Solar’s Keith Freeman to develop the largest solar panel installation in the Virgin Islands.

Westin Resorts

In 2014, with the help of Coastal Solar’s Keith Freeman, The Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Spa in St. Maarten became the largest solar resort in the Caribbean region. Over 2,600 solar panels with a capacity of nearly 800 kilowatts - enough to power over 100 average American homes - provide the resort with 1.2 million kilowatt hours a year.

Durrence Farms

This poultry farmer came to Coastal Solar looking for a more affordable energy solution. 20KW of solar panels were installed on the roofs of his two poultry houses. These solar panels will continue to save him money for money years to come.

The Landings

These homeowners were working through an extensive renovation of this dwelling and wanted solar as a part of the upgrade. Installed is a 7.5kW system where the generated power will be sold back to Georgia Power to offset this home’s energy bill.

These homeowners wanted to lower their energy bill, so they decided to cover the backside of their roof with panels. Installed in Jan 2011, they have seen an approximate 25% drop in their utility bill.

Wilmington Island

Not wanting to cut tree branches from over his roof, this homeowner decided to place the array in the area nearest the lake. The Coastal Solar Power Plant will run the refrigerator, ceiling fans and necessary lighting indefinitely during a power outage. This homeowner also utilizes an energy monitor to access his home’s power usage 24/7 online.
